My Entrepreneurship Story

All my life i've come up with small ideas for potential products, such as a combination of crocs and heelys (patent pending). While it has mainly just been for fun, I have recently discovered that ideas like these actually have the possibility to be successful.

This past summer I worked for a start up company that dealt with a software that predicted the profits of certain real estate locations based on multiple surrounding factors. They had only gone public a couple months prior to me joining, however the business was growing and gaining clients at an impressive rate. This showed me first hand the success of entrepreneurship, and that new and better ways of doing things are constantly being invented.

I have recently started watching a show on comedy central called "Nathan for you". This show consists of Nathan going to failed businesses and implementing new ideas to increase profit. In one episode he creates a store called "dumb Starbucks" which is almost identical to Starbucks except it has the word "dumb" in front of everything. People took off with this new parody store and it became extremely successful. The creative concepts shown in "Nathan for you" inspired me to enroll in ent3003. Through this course I hope to learn how to hone my creativity skills.

  1. Hey Beau. The startup you worked for seemed like an awesome experience that sparked an interest. It does seem like a great idea. Additionally, the show seems like a good example of how successes bring on more success and how the simple innovation of an already known ideas are often successful. I also have an interest in being an entrepreneur so thanks for the cool info.

  2. Hi Beau!
I loved your story about Nathan For You. The story of Dumb Starbucks really interested me and I just made a note to check out that show later tonight! You seem to have a lot of entrepreneurial knowledge with your work history so I know you will be successful in this class in terms of grades AND experiences.

  3. Thank you Beau, for sharing your experience with us. I really enjoyed your post. To personally see entrepreneurship work is awesome and inspiring. My dad started his own company when we moved down to Miami from New Jersey.
I expect you to rock this course (no pressure). Actually maybe yes, feel the pressure. My conception is that entrepreneurs enjoy the pressure and use the pressure as motivation. Maybe this class will back up my thought or prove me wrong.
Best of luck in your entrepreneurial endeavors and in ENT3003. I am sure you will do well and maybe teach us thing or two.
